A Somerset precision manufacturer has secured £12m in growth capital to expand its low-carbon production operation and create 140 skilled jobs over the next three years.

Bridgwater-based Ashcombe Advanced Materials confirmed the investment this morning, describing it as a “defining moment” for the company and for advanced manufacturing in the county.

A long-term commitment to Somerset

The funding round was led by regional investment firm West Country Capital, with participation from the British Business Bank and existing shareholders. It will finance a 65,000 sq ft extension to the company’s Huntworth site.

“This investment gives us the capacity to compete internationally while keeping high- value skills and careers here in Somerset.”

— Maya Foster, chief executive

Construction is expected to begin this summer, with the expanded facility becoming operational in early 2026. Recruitment for engineering, digital and production roles will start later this year.

Growing a regional supply chain

The expansion is expected to benefit more than 30 businesses across the regional supply chain. The company has committed to directing at least 60% of its construction and fit-out spending to suppliers within the South West.
