Bath-based group travel company Groupia has been acquired by Cheshire leisure specialist Funktion Leisure, following the Somerset business entering administration in June 2026.
The acquisition includes Groupia’s established GoHen and StagWeb brands, which specialise in organising hen and stag celebrations across the UK and overseas.
Founded 24 years ago, Groupia has built a significant presence in the group travel market, with more than 750,000 travellers having used its services.
The deal brings the Bath company’s brands into an established national leisure business, creating an opportunity for their continued development under new ownership.
Established travel brands join national operator
Funktion Leisure, based in Chester, operates Funktion Events, an ABTA-bonded group events business which has been organising hen parties, stag weekends and corporate events since 2007.
The acquisition expands Funktion Leisure’s portfolio of specialist group travel brands, adding GoHen and StagWeb to its existing operations.
Both businesses operate in the group leisure and events market, with services covering accommodation, activities and organised celebrations.
The transaction provides Funktion Leisure with additional established brands and access to Groupia’s existing customer market.
Future of Bath business following administration
Groupia entered administration in June 2026 before its brands were acquired by Funktion Leisure.
The transaction represents a significant change of ownership for the Bath-founded business, which has operated in the competitive group travel sector for more than two decades.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed in the reporting reviewed.
Details of the impact on Groupia’s Bath operations and workforce have also not been confirmed.
The acquisition highlights ongoing consolidation within the UK leisure and travel industry, with established operators acquiring specialist brands to expand their customer reach and service offerings.
