The opportunity
Wessex Growth Partners is a Taunton-headquartered regional investment firm backing ambitious owner-managed businesses across the South West. As the business scales its portfolio, it is seeking an exceptional Commercial Finance Director to join the senior leadership team and shape the firm’s financial strategy and investor reporting.
This is a rare opportunity to join a profitable, growing private equity-backed business at an exciting stage of its development. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Investment Committee, portfolio company CFOs, and external advisers
What you will do
Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting across the firm and its portfolio.
Partner with the Investment Committee on deal modelling, valuation, and capital allocation decisions.
Develop and maintain LP and co-investor reporting, including quarterly NAV packs and annual fund accounts.
Own the firm’s treasury function, managing cash, FX exposures, and facilities with banking partners.
Drive finance transformation across portfolio companies, embedding best practice and identifying value creation opportunities.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three finance professionals.
Manage external audit, tax, and compliance relationships.
What we are looking for
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience.
Proven track record in a senior finance role within private equity, investment management, or a PE-backed business.
Exceptional financial modelling and analytical skills.
Experience of LP reporting and fund accounting is highly advantageous.
Strong commercial instincts and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
A genuine connection to the South West and commitment to regional business growth.
